What is Free Software?
It's about FREEDOM, not price.
Freedom to run the program for any purpose.
Freedom to change the program to suit your needs.
Freedom to redistribute copies to help other people.
Freedom to release your improvements to the public.
What makes proprietary (non-free) software so bad?
It may contain unwanted "features" like spy-ware and lock-out schemes like DRM, designed to limit your ability to use the product.
You may think you own a copy of the program, but you are often only buying a "license to use" the software which could be revoked at any time.
It forces programmers from different companies to waste time and money by reinventing the wheel.
The price paid for the software often goes to pay patent lawyers instead of programmers.

Do you want to help promote the use of Free Software? There is no better way to entice someone to try a piece of software than to give it to them on a nicely packaged, professionally labeled disc with instructions on how to get started.
